This year we have a theme:         Jewel of the Valley

Take the challenge this year and de-thrown Annie.

Your kit has at least one fat quarter of jewel colored and/or designed fabric.

1) Pick-up a grab bag kit of fabric at Back to Basics Quilt Shop or Baker River Woodworks in Concrete, WA.
Bag will cost $10 again this year) Each bag will have 4 fat quarters (l8"x 22") pieces of fabric.

2) Register your name, phone number and the # printed on your bag. One entry per grab bag. This is a fund- raiser
for Cascade Days and your prizes.

3) Some of every piece in the bag must be used and the pieces big enough for the judges to tell what they are.
Choose your own block or quilt design. We suggest a block design that resembles a jewel OR design your quilt top,
using jewel like coloring from nature. The valley has so many color rich examples. Our evergreen forests and
mountain ranges are filled with green and blue hues which can be featured in your quilt top design. Our sunsets are
filled with glorious colors that can elicit many emotive feelings. Each sunset is like an exquisite palette. It gives us the
opportunity to reflect on another beautiful way to put colors together.

4) You are welcome to use additional fabric from your own fabric stash if needed to complete your design. (Top
only- do not layer and finish)

5)  Size should be 36" X 36" square (not a big wall hanging project)

6) This is your project to have fun doing within inspiring guidelines that are not too hard to meet.  Some of the past
contest entries, were designed to be expanded into full sized quilts and completed after the contest. These are your
quilts to have after the contest. One lady is planning for her entry design to ultimately become a gift for an expected
grand baby.

7) ENTRY DEADLINE will be Aug. 8d1, 2008. Entries need the registered entry # and a tiny swatch of each of the kit
fabric pieces. We will not disclose the entry owners' names until after the judging.

8)Quilt top entries will be collected and judged in the Back to Basics quilt shop and displayed for viewing on
Cascade Days weekend and then returned to you, by arrangement the following week. The PRIZES will be
determined by the number of kits sold. This is for beginners and experts. I have been so inspired by the talent and
diverse sewing techniques displayed in this contest, so don't be afraid to try again to win.
